Galvan Open Back Series Reels
Galvan introduced its Open Back Reel in 1999. The Open Back incorporates a large arbor design in order to dramatically increase retrieve speed (line is picked up much more rapidly than with a conventional spool); decrease drag where line is taken out at unusually high speeds (i.e. with long runnning fish), and to maintain constant drag tension as more line and backing are pulled from the reel (reducing the chances of breaking off a big fish). Galvan Open Back Reels also incorporate all of the outstanding features of the standard Galvan Reel; these reels feature the same incredibly smooth action and drag as all Galvan reels. The Open Back Reels are made of aluminum and stainless steel, and with the reel's spool and frame fully machined out of 6061 bar stock aluminum.
