When anglers think of fine bamboo, the name "Winston" always comes to
mind. Known the world over, these rods are beautiful, superb fishing
instruments that are made by hand, one at a time. When you hold one, or
cast one, or feel one bend under the weight of a good fish, then you will
understand why bamboo is such a large part of the Winston heritage.
Design. Seventy years of tradition experience, tradition, testing and study
go into the making of each Winston bamboo rod. All are designed with
progressive tapers, have wide casting ranges and will provide excellent
line control.
Construction. Hundreds of steps are involved in making a bamboo rod,
and not one shortcut. Every step involves incredible attention to detail and
the finest craftsmanship. The process can take upwards of a year, and
includes pole selection, hand splitting, node sanding, strip grading, heat
tempering, taper cutting, fluted hollowing, gluing and varnishing. Our
finished hexagonal rods have six perfectly dimensional strips; our finished
quadrates have four.
Light Trout Rods. 3 and 4-weight rods are ideal for making short,
delicate and accurate casts on smaller streams. Lengths (ft.)

Trout Rods. The 5 and 6-weights are more powerful rods that can make

Salmon/Steelhead Rods. These are among the lightest, most powerful
bamboo rods in the world for their line sizes. Designed for casting on big,

Pentagonal 2-Piece Rod. These rods have crisp, smooth actions. The
