Matt Kuma
Matt Kuma was born in Redding but moved to Bishop at just 1 year old. Raised in the outdoors of the Eastern Sierra through fishing, hiking, skiing, and swimming, Matt has grown a deep love and connection with and for his home and the small-town community that is Bishop.
Matt fell in love with fishing after watching small-stream anglers of Northern California pull in fish on dry flies while on family vacations. This fascination inevitably evolved into not only an obsession, but a deeply-rooted passion to learn about all that fly fishing can offer. With a love for not just the practice, but the history of fly-fishing, Matt continues to take in every ounce of information he can to best educate fly fishing for all age groups and abilities, and to share his love for not just the sport, but the lifestyle.
In his off time, Matt is likely either fishing or talking about fishing in the shop. Otherwise, he's fishing, but with his fiancé and loving dog Lucy the Gordon Setter - They love traveling to Northern California to camp, fish, hike, and explore.
