FIRST-TIME BEGINNER'S PACKAGES

Whether you are an experienced spin fisherman or have no fishing experience, the Troutfitter's first-time beginner's and family package offers a full five-hour course in fly fishing. This personal course includes everything needed for the day: rod and reel, waders, tackle, flies, and a digital camera to capture your experience.

STREAM FISHING THE EASTERN SIERRA

Your guide will call you before the trip to discuss your preferences and tailor the experience accordingly. From high-country streams with majestic views to tail waters in the Owens Valley with warm winter temperatures, we have hundreds of streams within an hour of the shop. Our expert guides will teach you skills to improve your angling abilities, ensuring you catch more fish on your own after your trip.

STILLWATER FISHING

We offer high-country lakes with smaller, voracious fish including Golden Trout, and lakes with well-fed, hard-pulling trout like Crowley Lake and Bridgeport Reservoir. Full day trips are 8 hours and half day trips are 5 hours, with the flexibility to extend if conditions are favorable.

MIDGING AND STRIPPING

We specialize in techniques like stillwater nymphing (midging) and stripping streamers to target large trout. Whether from a boat or float tube, these methods are highly effective in Crowley Lake and other local waters.

FISHING THE SHALLOWS

Our fleet includes boats designed to access shallow waters stealthily. Fishing the shallows can provide opportunities to catch larger fish with longer casts and finer tippet, offering a challenging and rewarding experience.

DRIFTING THE LOWER OWENS RIVER

In the fall and winter, we offer drift trips on the Lower Owens River. This provides access to sections of the river otherwise unreachable, with excellent dry fly hatches and nymphing opportunities.

STILLWATER FLY FOR ANGLERS WITH DISABILITIES

We teach and guide disabled clients to catch Crowley Lake's trophy trout from a center-console boat. This all-inclusive five-hour trip includes rods, reels, tackle, flies, and complementary water and soft drinks. Our beginner's package starts with casting instruction and basics of fly fishing before heading out to catch fish.

We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction. If you are ever dissatisfied with our guide service, we will refund your money. Period. The customer is always right.
